Week 14

Learning Through Projects

After reading this week's articles "Benefits of  Project Work in Foreign Language Classrooms" by Bülent Alan and Fredricka L. Stoller and "Seven Essentials for Project-Based Learning " by John Larmer and John R. Mergendoller, I learned how we can motivate our students to learn a second language through projects.

Both articles are very similar, they describe the steps that students must follow to create a project, and they provide examples of how project based learning has helped students to get very good results while learning a language.

As a future teacher, I would definitely use Projects to help my students learn and understand their target language because by doing it, I would be motivating them to work as a team, helping them to feel motivated towards the language, and at the same time being independent.

  1. Hi Bryan, I just have to say that I do agree with you with your thoughts stated in this post. First, I liked it when you said that these articles have taught us how we can motivate our students to learn a second language through projects. I think that the information provided in these articles will be really useful for us in the future because it has given us the information about what we have to do while working in projects step by step. What I also liked about your post is that you mentioned the ways in which working with projects would help students. I think that this a good technique in order to make students understand and acquire their target language and such as you I would use this technique not only to foster interactivity among students, but also to foster interactivity between me as a teacher and students and of course in order to make students learn and acquire their target language, so base on your thoughts and about the readings what do you think it will be a good topic to make students work in a project?
